Twenty in 20

TWENTY IN 20: What’s your twenty?

When we introduced Twenty in 20 back in January we had no idea what was in store for the year! As you, hopefully, recall the goal of Twenty in 20 was to make 2020 a year of spiritual growth for all members of our parish family. The tagline - “What’s Your Twenty?” - asked where you were on your journey toward living the life that Christ calls each of us to. Where are you in your spiritual life? In your life of service? How much do you commit to living out your faith in every aspect of your life?

The Easter Season (along with this time of COVID-19 imposed isolation) is the perfect time to revisit this campaign and to consider how we are all called to live out our baptismal promises of Priest, Prophet, and King - to worship, proclaim, and serve!

Below are just a few possibilities of things that you can do from home to grow in faith! We’d love to hear your ideas and share them with the parish community. Clip out the ‘coupon’ below and email them to our Communications Director, Anne Stephens, at

astephens@olachurch.org. We look forward to seeing what you come up with - or what you are already doing!

Our Twenty Ideas

Join us for Daily Mass - livestreamed at www.facebook.com/olachurch.atlanta. Make a Spiritual Communion by praying at communion: My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

Pray the Rosary each day to pray for an end to the coronavirus – join us on Wednesdays as Deacon Antonius and his family

livestream the rosary at 4pm on Facebook.

Send Cards to Retirement Homes. Retirement communities and nursing homes have been hit tremendously hard. Visitors aren’t allowed and group activities have shut down. In light of this, many are asking for volunteers to send cards and pictures to brighten the day of some of our most vulnerable.

Practice Gratitude. Create a gratitude journal and add to it every day, giving thanks to God for all of your blessings.

Smile, Wave and Say Hello when you’re out for a walk or getting the mail. You never know who may be in desperate need of a smile.

Check on Elderly Neighbors or Those Who Live Alone. If you have their phone numbers, give them a call, see if they need groceries or medicine and offer to leave it on their porch for them. Leave a note in their mailbox with your phone number.

Use Social Media to Spread the Faith during these uncertain times – make only positive, life-giving posts and unfollow those accounts that spread fear and negativity. Follow the many Catholic accounts that post daily on issues of Faith, Hope, and Love.

Color! Get Creative! Create your own religious art or color our Rosary coloring pages that can be found at www.olachurch.org.

Pray While Exercising. Incorporate prayer into your workout!

Go Through Your Closets and find the gently used clothes that you no longer use and donate them to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop in Chamblee.

Commit to a Daily Time of Quiet Prayer; don’t do all the talking. Listen to God.
