Eucharist
“The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation. Those who have been raised to the dignity of the
royal priesthood by Baptism and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate
with the whole community in the Lord’s own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist.”

Body and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he
should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved Spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and
resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet ‘in which Christ is consumed,
the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us.’”

Procedures for First Eucharist and First Reconciliation for Children/Youth
Children who are baptized Catholic are typically prepared for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion during their first and second grade years.
Children not enrolled in Catholic schools are required to complete both the first and second grades in the Parish School of Religion to be eligible for First Reconciliation and First Communion.
All parents of students in second grade in public and private schools must attend the preparation classes specifically designed for Reconciliation and Communion.
Students beyond 2nd grade are also invited to prepare for the sacraments. They must enrolled for a minimum of 1 year prior to preparing for the sacraments the 2nd year in the program.
