Thinking about becoming Catholic? Are you a Catholic who needs to complete the sacraments of initiation? If you answered yes to either of these questions, the RCIA program is for you!

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the communal process of spiritual and educational formation through which adults explore the Catholic Faith and become fully initiated members of the Roman Catholic Church.

​

The Catholic inquiry group introduces individuals to the spirituality and traditions of the Catholic church. This group starts the process of RCIAthrough which unbaptized or other tradition baptized adults are formed in the teaching and practices of Catholicism in order to be initiated into the Catholic Church. This group is also for baptized Catholics who need to complete the sacraments of initiation: Confirmation and/or Eucharist.

Classes are held on Sunday afternoons at 4pm, and begin in early September. There are 4 stages in the RCIA program that are explored in the classes and through personal reflection: Inquiry, Catechesis, Purification and Enlightenment, and Mystagogy. 

 

Classes culminate with the reception of sacraments at the Easter Vigil in the spring, followed by a few more weeks of classes to reflect on the sacraments received and prepare for active participation in the life of the Church.

The Stages of RCIA

​

Stage 1: Inquiry

During the inquiry stage you are learning about Christ and the Catholic Church. It is time to explore your faith and beliefs so that you can determine if you want to continue the process toward being received into the Church. 

​

Stage 2: Catechesis

The catechesis stage focuses on learning more about the teachings of the Church, your faith and relationship with God, and how to live a Christ centered life.

Stage 3: Purification and Enlightenment

This is the final stage before receiving the sacraments and becoming fully initiated into the Church through baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist. (If you have already be baptized in another faith tradition - in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit - you will not be baptized again.)

This coincides with the season of Lent where the entire Church will join you as you you reflect more intensely on your faith and are called into deeper conversion in preparation for Easter.

Stage 4: Mystagogy

Mystagogy during the Easter season is a period of continued reflection on the Mass and Sacraments. It is also a time of learning where you fit into the life of the Church and determining how you want to live that out.
