Thank You for Your Service, Joseph Hoffman!

In the Fall of 2009 Joseph Hoffman first made his presence known at OLA when he

joined fellow students from Oglethorpe University for meetings of OLA’s College Ministry, affectionately known as Cat’lic Club. Joseph quickly became liked and respected by his peers due to his kindness, deep faith, and wry sense of humor. It didn’t take long for the group to learn of his love for the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame Football, great literature, Superheroes, and digging for dinosaurs. (Yes, he actually did that!)

Joseph graduated from OU with a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Bachelor of Arts in History, and a Minor in Shakespeare and Renaissance Studies. He headed for Villanova where he earned a Master of Arts in English - with a thesis entitled “But Edward Lives”: Kinship and Kingship in Shakespeare’s History Plays.

In 2013 Joseph returned to Atlanta and began volunteering with the Cat’lic Club and OLA Youth Ministries in the Fall of 2014. His dedication to the young people of OLA led to his being hired as Assistant Youth Minister in July of 2015. His years in youth ministry have had a great impact on the parish. Whether he was training/scheduling teens to serve at the Sunday 5:30pm Mass, assisting in the planning and running meetings/retreats, or simply giving his quiet, steady support, Joseph has been a true blessing for your young people.

During his time at OLA, Joseph has also worked as an Adjunct Instructor and Limited-Term Instructor for Georgia State University. His hard work has paid off and he has been offered a full-time position at GSU!

In June, Joseph will step down as a member of our parish staff to focus on his expanded role as an English professor at Georgia State University. Fortunately, Joseph will remain at OLA and continue his work with our youth - as a volunteer!

Joseph, thank you for your service to this community. We love you and wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
