National Faith and Blue Weekend

National Faith and Blue Weekend

We are excited to announce OLA’s participation in the inaugural

National Faith and Blue Weekend (Friday, October 9 - Sunday, October 11). The Faith & Blue Weekend is based on the premise that strong communities are built on mutual respect and

understanding. Law enforcement and faith institutions are key pillars of each community, and when they work together, neighborhoods thrive. At the heart of this initiative is the reinforcement of connections between law enforcement professionals and the

communities they serve.

This weekend will focus on local clergy beginning a relationship with officers from the Brookhaven Police Department.

Weekend events include the following:

Coffee With A Cop - Friday

Local pastors and church leaders will meet with officers of

the Brookhaven PD for a cup of coffee and a chance to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the officers in

our community.

Crucial Discussions Lunch and Learn - Saturday

OLA will be host to a Lunch and Learn where local clergy are invited to dialogue with officers from the Brookhaven PD with regard to the tough topics on policing that are facing our nation today and to create greater understanding between the community and law enforcement. This event is for local pastors - livestreaming details will be announced soon.

The BPD wants to hear from you. If you have questions or concerns with questions with regard to police policy and procedure please email you questions to Nimi at nwani@olachurch.org by 9am Thursday, Wednesday, October 8. The questions will be discussed at the Lunch & Learn.

Sending Greetings - Sunday

Sergeant K. Martinez will be attending our Sunday 10am and 11:30am (livestream) Masses to offer greetings from the Brookhaven PD and to introduce increased dialogue

between the department and the local community.
