Dear OLA Family,
Pope Francis has called the Church to rejuvenate her synodal roots by opening a two year synodal process with the goal of reframing and renewing our common journey together. It is a time for the world wide Church to pray, listen, and
discern together where the Holy Spirit is leading the Church today.
Pope Francis has invited people from all walks of life to participate in this process. This may mean attending listening sessions, submitting answers to
a survey or taking time to prayerfully discern the activity of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
How can you participate? There are two ways for you to be involved:
1. Take the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Synod Survey. The online survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ATLSynodSurvey.
* The survey is for all adult members of our community.
* Youth who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation are encouraged to take the survey.
*Non-Catholics who have a connection to the Church are encouraged to participate.
*Please note that when you open the survey, you can select your preferred language at the top right of the page.
2. Attend our Parish Listening Session on Saturday, February 12 from 9am-12pm in Moylan Hall. This session, led by members of the Pastoral Council, will give each participant to access the ‘signs of the time” and have an honest, open discourse on Faith and the state of the Church today. You are invited to share your thoughts, and/or just to listen.
The February 12 Listening Session is the OLA’s first step in the synod process. Information from the session will be gathered and presented to the Archdiocese. The Archdiocese will compile a report from data received from all Catholic institutions in the Archdiocese. That report will be presented to the USCCB who will then compile a report that will go to the College of Cardinals/ Vatican.
